The Mérida City Council will invest 70 million pesos next year in the construction and renovation of parks. The neighborhoods where these projects will be located will be selected by their own residents.

Julio Sauma Castillo, head of the Secretariat of Citizen Participation of the Mérida City Council, mentioned that the selection of park locations will be proposed in 2024 and will be chosen by the people of Mérida.

He added that municipal public funds will be allocated to projects that promote the renewal of green areas, sustainable infrastructure, and the modernization of existing park facilities. The financial boost aims to provide more attractive and functional spaces for residents, promoting physical activity and outdoor recreation.

The process of selecting recreational sites will take place after the approval of the corresponding municipal regulations, and eligible parks can apply to receive these funds.

For more information on the projects and how to participate in this initiative, you are invited to visit the official website ayuntamientodecide.merida.gob.mx, where a catalog of workshops and programs that complement this community investment is available.
