According to information from Ron Fernández, a specialist from the Faculty of Sciences at UNAM, the upcoming solar eclipse will affect animals and pets.
“Any change in lighting conditions, and even in weather conditions, at that moment is a novelty. Many birds rely on light patterns, and on this occasion, they may become disoriented.”
If you have a pet, follow these guidelines:
Avoid lifting pets so they can see the solar eclipse.
Avoid placing any type of eyewear on them.
Avoid taking your pets for a walk during the solar eclipse.
Keep them away from telescopes or any instruments to view the solar eclipse.
On October 14th, you will be able to witness the solar eclipse in many places in Mexico due to the alignment of the sun, the moon, and the earth, which causes the light to be blocked for a few minutes.
In fact, the alignment coincides with a new moon, indicating that the moon is very close to the plane of the ecliptic.
Glasses for viewing the solar eclipse:
Certified glasses with CE and ISO 12312-2.2015 standards (many of them are available on digital platforms).
Telescope with solar film.
Welder’s shade 14 glass (if the opacity level is unknown, avoid using them).
