After the violent death of a man that occurred this Saturday, October 28, morning in Ticul, the authorities announced that there were already seven people detained (four men and three women) and that it was a crime carried out with a weapon 22 caliber.
At a press conference held jointly by authorities from the State Police and the Yucatán Prosecutor’s Office, it was emphasized that all possible lines of investigation in the case are being investigated.
Both the head of the SSP, Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda, and the State Prosecutor, Juan Manuel León León, stressed that one cannot speak of an execution by organized crime until the corresponding investigations are exhausted.
Of the seven men and women detained, three are from Tabasco, two are from Quintana Roo, one from Veracruz, and one of them is from Yucatán.
As for the fatal victim, he has only been identified as a 37-year-old contractor from Mexico City, who worked in that municipality, presumably in the hospital being built in that city.
After the attack, the victim’s body was left lying on the side of the road accompanied by a woman, who is his romantic partner. She was not injured.
Saidén Ojeda said that as soon as they learned of the homicide through a timely call to the emergency number 911, the State Police activated the protocols for the closure of roads and the search for those allegedly responsible.
He added that, with the support of the system of video surveillance cameras and arc readers, the field units and agents of the State Investigative Police (PEI) managed to locate and capture the probable perpetrators.
Two vehicles and a low-caliber gun, used to kill the contractor, were seized from all of them.
