Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas is elected the new Rector of UNAM
The UNAM Governing Board appointed economist Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas as rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico for the period 2023-2027.
After four days of session in the Rectory Tower, the candidate was chosen for the second time, who has been a puma since high school.
Vanegas has three degrees from UNAM such as a bachelor’s degree in Economics, a master’s degree and a doctorate in History respectively. He has been an uninterrupted professor at the Faculty of Economics since 1994.
The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) is the largest university in Latin America, UNAM offers more study opportunities than all the UC campuses combined. Its modern, attractive campus is a hub of educational and cultural activity as well as Mexico-related research.
