153 Yucatecan women are certified in labor skills and trades

Within the framework of 25N (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women), the 153 graduates of the fourth generation of the “An Opportunity to Undertake 2023” strategy of the State Center of Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation of Yucatán (CEPREDEY) received their certificates with official validity from Ms. Joana Briceño Ascencio, director of the Center, and authorities who accompanied the graduates on this important day for their personal and professional growth.

The objective of “An Opportunity to Entrepreneur” is to contribute to the economic activation of women in situations of greater vulnerability due to violence and economic backwardness, through the teaching of certified courses in trades and work skills, which allow them to obtain jobs or Start businesses that strengthen your empowerment and financial independence. Another great achievement is the expansion of the empowerment and sisterhood network that today, with the fourth edition, has a total of 725 women from different municipalities.

It should be noted that this year the call allowed the certification of women within the State belonging to the communities of Chemax, Hunucmá, Kanasín, Kinchil, Maxcanú, police stations of Mérida, Motul, Oxkutzcab, Peto, Progreso, Flamboyanes police station of Progreso, Ucú, Umán, Tekax, Telchac Puerto, Tetiz, Ticul, Tizimín, and Valladolid.

It should be noted that this Generation 2023 is the first, of four generations (since 2020), that was able to aspire to three courses in person, which were “Candle making”, “Hair cutting for women” and “Canning preparation”. food”; In addition, four other courses were taught virtually this year, such as “Marketing for Services”, “SME Administration”, “Digital Marketing” and “Service Strategy for Sales”.

This is why the courses were designed with a perspective of violence prevention and a gender perspective, continuing with the transversal axis of carrying out dynamics of sisterhood among all women, where each graduate completed the 4 fundamental phases, to achieve a total of 47 hours. training and thus be able to successfully complete the certification.

These phases were: “Economic and personal empowerment”, taught by CEPREDEY; “Socioproductive Training” guided by the Work Training Institute of the State of Yucatán (ICATEY); and the “Business Training” provided by the Yucatecan Institute of Entrepreneurs (IYEM).

In addition to the training work, the Women’s Secretariat (SEMUJERES) joined in, a department whose support was essential to manage the venues where the face-to-face courses were taught, and the Regional and Municipal Development Institute (INDERM), in charge of disseminating the call. of the program in the municipalities.
