A foreigner will go to trial for being possibly related to the commission of the crimes of femicide and disappearance committed by private individuals, in the Yucatan Peninsula.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo, one of the three states that make up the Yucatán Peninsula, reported that Eduardo Enrique “N” is accused of events that occurred on June 12, 2021.

The crime was committed in the city of Isla Mujeres, where a foreign woman also lost her life due to the brutal blows she received.

However, it was not until 42 days later that the woman’s body was found on the high seas, very close to Cabo Catoche.

It should be noted that the foreigner who will be prosecuted for femicide was served with an arrest warrant for the crime of disappearance of persons, dated July 3, 2021.

After that, they released him on May 23, 2023, through an judge’s decision to revoke the binding order. However, on December 8, 2023, Eduardo Enrique “N” was arrested again.

Later, in a face-to-face hearing, the Control Judge decided to link him to proceedings for his probable participation in the crime of femicide. For this reason, they ordered informal preventive detention as a precautionary measure.
