2023 left in Yucatán a notable increase in complaints or investigation files for drug dealing, a crime that has been increasing in the last four years. Until last November, more than 300 investigation files or preliminary investigations had been documented in the state for this crime, which includes the possession, sale, trade, supply, and purchase of drugs.
According to the records presented throughout the year by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Yucatán accumulated 368 crimes of this type until last November, for which there was a prior investigation or investigation folder.
The above would indicate an average of 33 complaints per month until the penultimate period of the year, which is when the public security agency last reported.
That is, in Yucatán, on average, there was knowledge of a case of drug dealing reported to the authorities every 22 hours in the last 11 months, or other words, one a day.
The authorities at the three levels have carried out various operations that have left several people arrested for the trade, possession, or sale of narcotics.
Until November, there were records of at least 23 anti-drug operations in the municipalities of Conkal, Valladolid, Kanasín, Sinanché, Progreso, Dzidzantún, Buctzotz, Tizimín, Tinum, Izamal, Yobaín, Sinanché, Maní and Mérida, leaving detainees and drug security.
In the state capital, according to the records of this publishing house, the attacks on drug sales occurred in the neighborhoods Manzana 115, Melitón Salazar, Miraflores, Centro, Maya, María Luisa, Chuburná, Azcorra, and Ciudad Cancel. As in the San Antonio Hool and San José Tzal communities.
Just with the records of drug sales provided by the authorities, there were at least 38 arrests for trafficking illicit substances. The towns with the highest number of arrests for this crime are Progreso, with 10 arrests, and Mérida with 20 arrests.
The drugs that have been confiscated the most, as detailed by the authorities in the communications and bulletins issued, are crystal, crack, cocaine, methamphetamines, and marijuana.
It is notable, according to statistics, that the incidence of these criminal acts has increased year after year since 2020.
The numbers reflect that, since that year, when the authorities reported that at the end of that calendar, they registered 165 cases, complaints of acts of drug dealing have been on the rise with an increase range of between 50 and 30 reported events.
It was two years ago, in 2021, when there was a total of 223 investigation folders for these crimes. In 2022, the incidents rose to 281 and in the monthly report of the security agencies which, as we mentioned, had a report until last November, there were already 368 crimes of this type reported in 11 months.
