He said that the lobster capture season begins on July 1 and ends on February 28, 550 tons have already been reached, and they may reach more than 700 tons; This fishery is going very well for 1,500 lobster fishermen from the west and east of the entity.
He insisted that unfortunately, the price does not help, since the boats spend a lot of money to go after the species, in addition to the fact that it is a risk because the capture is through diving, with the risk that the diver suffers some decompensation and that It can cost your life.
He pointed out that years ago, Yucatán exported lobster to Europe, the United States, China, and Japan; but since last year, those markets have been closed for export, perhaps due to the international economic situation that affects the entire world, while the food is sold to the national market, to the Riviera Maya of Quintana Roo, but unfortunately the price is low and is not profitable for lobstermen.
