Two workers were injured after a Tren Maya bridge collapsed in Quintana Roo

On Thursday, February 8th, an accident occurred when a bridge under construction for the Maya Train Project collapsed leaving two injured workers according to local news outlets.

According to the Meganews portal, according to data not confirmed by federal authorities, the bridge collapsed in a section between Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Bacalar, near the town of Pedro A. Santos, in the municipality of Bacalar, around 6 p.m. afternoon, Thursday, February 8, 2024.

Until now, federal authorities have kept the information related to this accident completely confidential.

It turned out that the mishap occurred when a group of workers were installing a ladder wall and, suddenly, the rods collapsed, causing the two workers to fall.

Unofficial data indicate that one of the injured suffered an eye injury, while the other suffered various fractures to his body.

Both injured people were taken in a private van to the Bacalar Community Center, where they were stabilized.
