A woman who was carrying out cleaning tasks in a commercial building on the outskirts of Mérida, would have saved the lives of several workers by warning of a collapse that occurred on Wednesday, February.
The events occurred at kilometer 37 of the Mérida‘s Periférico in a shopping plaza that is located a few meters from the Calle 21 Exit in Chuburná.
According to the report, a woman was carrying out her everyday labor activities, when she noticed that the ceiling began to “fall off .” She immediately alerted the people who were on the premises and a few minutes later, the roof completely collapsed affecting five other stores.
No one at the scene was injured thanks to the woman’s warning.
Firefighters, Municipal Police officers, and Civil Protection personnel went to the scene to assess the damage and the location since the collapse left other parts of the building on the verge of collapsing, so it would be closed for preention.
