After an intense search, missing minors are found in the jungle of Tulum

After an intense search, Quintana Roo police and citizens found three minors who were lost in the jungle of the municipality of Tulum.

The Quintana Roo Citizen Security Secretariat reported that the minors reported missing, were treated by paramedics, who diagnosed them with severe dehydration.

“Thanks to the coordinated work, the location of three minors who were reported missing in the municipality of Tulum was achieved,” they wrote.

“After an intense search within the jungle in the town of Macario Gómez, in the municipality of Tulum…, they were found alive two kilometers inside the jungle.”

He specified that agents of the Tulum Emergency and Search Tactical Group, state, and municipal police with support from citizens, participated in the search.

Local press stated that the age of the missing people is between 8 and 15 years old on average. They are Kevin, Josmar, and another whose name was not specified, who went to the jungle to look for firewood. However, after a while, the father became concerned about the absence and decided to report the disappearance to the 911 emergency number.

In May 2023, the case of a minor who lived lost for a week in the jungle of the Subteniente López ejido, also in Quintana Roo, was learned.

Iris Onahí, then 13 years old, defied adversity and faced the dangers of the jungle, such as jaguars and crocodiles, she lived a story of courage and resistance.

The little girl’s case caused outrage among the community because her relatives reported her disappearance five days after it occurred, which caused surprise and set off alarms.
