The construction work of the Tourist and Gastronomic Corridor continues on Calle 60.
The work is progressing at a good pace according to schedule and will soon be ready to renew the image of the Historic Center of the capital and, with it, detonate tourism and the economy of the area.
The works are being carried out on 47th and 60th Street, passing through Santa Ana Park to reach the area of El Remate del Paseo de Montejo, and continuing on 60th Street until reaching the Government Palace.
This project will allow more tourists to arrive in the area, since the businesses will have better conditions.
The rehabilitation of streets and sidewalks is already being carried out, the improvement of the urban image continues and bollards (obstacles to prevent the passage of vehicles) have been placed, the installation of new lighting , wiring and traffic lights systems is also advancing.
It is worth remembering that, last November, the first stage of the Tourist and Gastronomic Corridor on 47th Street was delivered, by the Mérida City Council, which will connect, once ready, with the one on 60th Street and the Park of “ La Plancha”, which will allow us to offer all visitors a great corridor with recreational options for locals and tourists.
The Great Tourist and Gastronomic Corridor in the Historic Center is a work that will connect the Plaza Grande, the Parque de Santa Lucía, Santa Ana and the Great Park of “La Plancha”, in a safe, accessible and sustainable environment for everyone.
The State Government is in charge of the section that starts from 60th Street, on the corner of the Plaza Grande, to the Santa Ana Park and a further section on 47th, between 60th and 56th, including the roundabout of El Remate del Paseo de Montejo, for which 174.3 million pesos are invested.
This project is contemplated in the Mérida 2050 Declaration and, with it, a total of 1,750 linear meters will be improved, with street widening, new sidewalks, bicycle lanes, low-height poles, podotactiles for people with visual disabilities and easy access and urban mobility for those people who have a motor disability.
