Due to works part of the Archaeological Zones Improvement Program (Promeza), derived from the construction of the Maya Train, the archaeological zone of Dzibilchaltún, Yucatán, will remain closed until further notice.
The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) reported that the site will remain closed during the next spring equinox.
According to INAH figures, Dzibilchaltún is the fourth most visited archaeological zone in Yucatán and it is precisely during the spring and autumn equinoxes when the presence of tourists increases.
Last year the archaeological site received 64,808 people.
The INAH invited the general public to visit other archaeological sites that are open in Yucatán such as Kabah, Chichén Itzá, Oxkintok, Aké, Uxmal, or Labná, among others.
