The State government reported that this Friday, March 15, the Aeroméxico Atlanta-Mérida flight was launched, which strengthens the international connection of Yucatán and the attraction of tourism and economic benefits.

According to a statement, in an event led by the Secretary of Tourism Development (Sefotur), Michelle Fridman, it was explained that the flights will be from Monday to Sunday from Atlanta to Mérida, departing at 10:20 a.m. and arriving at 11 a.m.:44, and from Mérida to Atlanta, with takeoff at 3:00 p.m. and landing at 7:46 p.m.

However, he adds, due to the season, in April it will be reduced to a frequency of 4 flights a week, a figure that will gradually increase and in July it will return to every day of the week.

Michelle Fridman stated that, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on tourism, Yucatán rose and surpassed its indicators, achieving record years with more tourists and 2024 is going the same way.

“Things are going well for Yucatán and it is not by chance, it is thanks to the work of the different levels of government and actors such as business chambers and business partners”

Likewise, he highlighted Aeroméxico as an important ally of Yucatán and the example is the flight to Atlanta.

“Today the State is connected to the east coast of the United States, which will also allow us to join other destinations such as Orlando and Toronto,” she said.

“This is a product of the team that we are used to doing in Yucatán. Today we can connect with one of the most important hubs in the world,” she concluded.

For his part, the director of ASUR Regional Airports, Héctor Navarrete Muñoz, highlighted that this flight represents hope and the union of two destinations with a lot of potential.

He thanked Aeroméxico for continuing to support Yucatán to increase its connection.

With the reactivation of the flight, there are now 8 international routes with direct connections to Mérida International Airport: Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Houston, Oakland (semi-direct), Havana, Guatemala, and Toronto.
