On Monday, April 8, we will be able to see the solar eclipse that will take three centuries to occur again, so a North American organization launched a coin to commemorate the special event.
The date is approaching. On April 8, the Moon, the Sun and the Earth will synchronize to form a total solar eclipse that can be seen in some parts of Mexico, the United States and Canada, in one of the best astronomy events of 2024.
In Mexico, the total solar eclipse can be fully seen in a strip of the north of the country, made up of some places in the states of Durango, Coahuila, Nayarit and Sinaloa.
The UNAM Institute of Geophysics explained that one of the best places to enjoy the natural phenomenon is the port of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, where the duration of the ‘night in broad daylight’ will last four minutes and 25 seconds.
Another place where conditions will be favorable to appreciate the 2024 eclipse is the town called La Pitarrilla, in Durango, where the duration is expected to be four minutes and 28 seconds.
In the rest of the states, it will be seen as a partial eclipse. This means that it can be observed at levels between 50 and 80 percent of its totality.
In the case of Mexico City and other places in Central Mexico, the phenomenon will reach a maximum of 75 percent.
As it is a phenomenon that has not been seen for almost 150 years and will not be seen again in 300 years, the Total Eclipse Silver Coin organization launched a commemorative coin to celebrate ‘the darkness’ that will cover more than 1,300 Texas cities.
It is a one ounce silver coin, with the design of the map of Texas, with the image of the solar eclipse and has a price of 49.99 US dollars plus shipping. It is a limited edition of 5 thousand pieces and can be purchased online on the website of the organization that launched it.
