The Vicente Guerrero neighborhood and the port of Chicxulub were the collection centers, where the Progreso City Council, through the Solid Waste Management Directorate (PROLIMPIA), the Sustainable Development Secretariat (SDS), and the Metropolitan Management System of Waste (SIGER), held the Metropolitan Electronic Recycling Day on Thursday, March 14, and Friday, March 15.
Personnel from the units received different non-functional equipment, such as televisions, cell phones, batteries, printers, and computers, among other electronic waste on both days, which contributed to more than 640 kilos of this being rescued and given an appropriate final destination, since some of its components are toxic and can contaminate soil, water, and air.
The municipal authorities thank those who came forward, not only to support these actions in favor of the environment but also to adopt a tree, after handing over their disused equipment.
Likewise, they announced that both the Progreso City Council, through Prolimpia, SDS, and SIGER will continue to work in coordination to promote sustainable practices among Progreso residents.
