To promote Yucatecan gastronomy in Europe from April 8 to 22, a delegation made up of five chefs and prominent restaurant businessmen, members of the Gastronomic Federation of Yucatán will bring Yucatecan culture and seasoning in emblematic dishes of regional cuisine that they will exhibit in eight cities from Portugal, Spain, France, and Germany.
This delegation of Yucatecans was supported by the Secretary of Tourism Michell Fridman Hirsch and the Technical Secretary Raúl Paz Noriega in the offices of the Secretary.
The president of the Yucatan Gastronomic Federation, Carlos Guillermo Aguirre Aguilar, highlighted that on the tour there will be activities with a select group of guests at the Mexican Embassies in Portugal and France, and diplomatic ties between our country and other delegations of Mexico will be strengthened ambassadors in Europe.
The program, he specified, includes a work session with the Mexico-Portugal business organization to identify business opportunities on both sides of the continent.
Among the main objectives of these meetings is to open channels of cooperation, linkages, and twinning with universities focused on tourism and gastronomy in Portugal, Spain, France, and Germany to lay the foundations that allow promoting a program of stays on Yucatecan soil.
Carlos Guillermo Aguirre indicated that they seek to have a model of professional practices that allows cooks, chefs, and chefs from Yucatán to benefit from workshops and diplomas at universities in Europe.
“For us, these types of international promotional activities are very important, because they allow participants to expose our culture, gastronomy being a pillar of it, which will open the doors for the future to be more binding,” he stated.
Currently, he said, we have a festival called Sabores de Yucatán that attracts the attention of the most important chefs from around the world, invites the entire nation to participate, and projects us as Yucatecans to our restaurants and culinary identity.
The participants who were also representatives of the delegations where the Gastronomic Federation of Yucatán has a presence attended this flag-bearing ceremony, the delegate in CDMX Jocelyn Dzul Navarrete, the ambassador delegate in Costa Rica José Luis Rodríguez, Master Baker of Tizimín Sergio Fiscal Mena, Vice President of the Federation and Delegate of Acanceh Frank Sosa Candila, and the President of the Federation and Delegate in Valladolid Carlos Guillermo Aguirre Aguilar.
