The State Coordination of Civil Protection (Procivy) indicated that on April 10 a trough will be established over the state, followed on the morning of the next day by the entry of the weak cold front number 45 of the current season.
The frontal system is expected to remain stationary over the central region, with little significant change in temperatures in the early hours of April 11.
The cold front will help reduce the heat recorded in the days before its arrival, according to the State Monitoring and Warning System (SEMA).
Regarding the effects of the trough, gusts of wind, moderate to heavy rains, and possible hail are expected on Wednesday, April 10, in the municipalities of the northwest, center, and southwest of Yucatán.
The cold front will arrive between 3:00 and 6:00 in the morning on Thursday, April 11, causing a weak northern event with wind gusts of up to 50 km/h on the coast and waves of 1.5 to 3.0 meters. Rain will be moderate to heavy in the southeast and northeast, with the possibility of hail.
Light rain is expected in other parts of the state.
Enrique Alcocer Basto, head of Procivy, explained that this cold front could be one of the last of the season.
