Given the economic development of Yucatán, supported by the arrival of investments for nearly 150 billion pesos from 2019 to date by national and international companies, the infrastructure and connectivity company Liberty Networks, which already connects 40 countries with almost 50 thousand kilometers of submarine fiber optic cable and 17 thousand kilometers of terrestrial networks, it will have a new regional Point of Presence (PoP) in Mérida.
The company will improve connectivity and customer experience by placing nodes closer to businesses, improving reliability and performance for critical operations, providing high data transfer speeds, and achieving a seamless experience for users.
Carmine Sorrentino, vice president and Commercial and Operational Director of the company’s Wholesale Networks business, mentioned that the new Point of Presence in Mérida consolidates Liberty’s regional expansion in line with its investment plan of 250 million dollars for the next five years.
“This new regional point in Mérida will provide high-speed IP transit services (paid service that connects the customer’s network or the downstream ISP with the global Internet), protection against denial of service (DDOS), and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS). ) and Ethernet to content providers, wholesalers, and companies in the metropolitan area of the capital city of the state of Yucatán,” he explained.
He added that this new Point of Presence serves the local Mérida market, and acts as a central hub for organizations that need reliable and scalable connections with the United States.
This allows companies to connect with a global network of customers and partners, ultimately promoting international growth.
He added that, with this new implementation, added to another PoP in Guatemala, the company already has 94 PoPs, expanding its reach.
Regarding the decision to install the new point of presence in Mérida, Carmine Sorrentino said that Yucatán currently represents a strategic point for investment and development in Mexico, therefore it now has a state-of-the-art underwater connectivity alternative. “The new Point of Presence in Mérida consolidates our regional expansion, in line with our investment plan of 250 million dollars for the next five years.
