Joan Miró i Ferrà was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramist born in Barcelona. Professionally, he was simply known as Joan Miró.

59 works by Joan Miró, master of abstract art, are being exhibited at the Olimpo Cultural Center in Mérida.

The Mystical and Avant-garde exhibition will remain open to the public until Saturday, May 4, with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The exhibition is made up of works created between 1929 and 1970. It will be available for several months so there is no excuse for not seeing it (remember that the Olimpo Cultural Center is closed on Mondays).

The Catalan painter is one of the greatest representatives of abstract painting due to the use he makes of primary colors in his work, where he reflects a style in which stylized and imaginative forms predominate with marked Fauvist, Cubist, and Expressionist influences.

In addition to the 59 engravings from a collection of lithographs and intaglio graphs, which were made with etching, aquatint and combined techniques, some dry inks, woodcuts and a wood carving; There are also graphics from the series that Miró dedicated to his hometown, Barcelona, in which urban landscapes are illustrated with a gestural charge, and lithographic posters that the artist created with colleagues for exhibitions in France.

The paintings come from different private collections in Spain, by this artist considered the most relevant of international modern art of the 20th century.
