The municipal Health Department of Felipe Carrillo Puerto alerted the population about the presence of cases of chickenpox, a disease that tends to increase during the hot season.
Edward Aguilar Tun, head of the area in the municipality, expressed that according to the reports of the epidemiological validity of week 13, which runs from January 1 to March 30, 11 cases have been reported in the municipality, although he did not detail the ages and areas of contagion.
He argued that chickenpox is a skin disease that causes watery blisters, caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is highly contagious, is most common in children between the ages of two and five and very rarely occurs in the period of adolescence or in adults.
How is chickenpox spread?
Aguilar Tun highlighted that the incubation period of the disease can last up to 21 days and its form of contagion is through contact with the fluid from the blisters and the saliva or nasal fluids of sick people. The only way to prevent them and as a recommendation is Avoid them at all costs.
He maintained that it is necessary for the directors and teachers of the educational establishments to be aware of the appearance of cases, so that the infected minors are isolated and the spread of the disease in the establishments is avoided, to make a call to the parents and to continue an appropriate protocol.
