The turtle eggs were found in nests disseminated in tourist areas.
The Yucatán Ecological Police located and saved 339 turtle eggs, coming from three nests that were located in a tourist area, as they considered that they were not in a good place for their proper development.
This week, personnel from the Ecological Police carried out the intervention on the report of two turtle nests on the beach, in front of 98 and 118 Streets respectively, and later another one on 70 Street, in the area of the traditional boardwalk of the port of Progreso.
The nests were found and reported by local residents, who notified the corresponding authorities out of fear that the eggs could be damaged.
Cetmar personnel indicated that the eggs will remain under protection at the institution, monitoring their hatching and subsequently releasing the hatchlings.
