The SSA also warned of a simultaneous increase in flu and influenza cases, which contributed to the significant occupancy of beds in several hospitals in the country.
According to data from the SARI Network Information System, coordinated by UNAM and SSA, currently 16 hospitals report occupancy of 50% or more of their beds due to respiratory diseases, including cases possibly attributable to COVID-19 and other similar diseases.
Among the hospitals with the highest occupancy are the Dr. Raymundo Abarca Alarcón General Hospital in Guerrero, with an occupancy of 100%, followed by the ISSSTE of Morelia in Michoacán with 86%, and the General Hospital of Zone 1 Tapachula in Chiapas with 67%.
In addition, the SSA reported that during the interseasonal influenza season, 646 cases of infection and 11 deaths related to complications derived from this disease have been recorded. In total, 98,370 suspected cases of COVID-19 are reported in the country, reflecting continued pressure on the national health system.
Regarding preventive measures, the SSA reiterated the importance of the use of face masks and other personal hygiene measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.
