The Muna Creative Writing and Embroidery Seedbed, made of girls, boys, and teenagers between 7 and 15 years of age, participated in the First Bi-State Meeting of Creative Seedbeds “I Have a Dream Yucatán and Quintana Roo 2024”.
This event was at the José María Iturralde and Traconis Theater in Valladolid, convened by the Federal Ministry of Culture, with the Community Culture program and the governments of Yucatán and Quintana Roo. The Creative Seedbeds of both states attended to share the diversity of artistic expressions and manifestations of its states.
In the activity titled “The Mayab and its roots,” the teacher and technician in literary creation in the Mayan Language, María Dalila Casanova Ferráez, along with 27 students who are part of this group, presented a catalog of embroidery inspired by the flora and fauna of Yucatan.
This group took the workshop between January and April, in which they embroidered various traditional garments such as huipiles, rebozos, and guayaberas, to finally present the products made on a nine-minute show accompanied by the jarana melodies Mi Xkíichpan Xpet, The town festival and Rebozos.
In the event, students expressed themselves and exchanged ideas, experiences, and cultural legacies through awareness, artistic participation, critical thinking, and recognition of them as cultural agents.
