The Mérida City Council works in synergy with citizens and civil society to promote responsible practices in the Municipality that implement actions aimed at the protection and respect of any form of life”, reported Mayor Alejandro Ruz Castro.

In the Ordinary Session of the Town Council, held in the “Rosa Torre González” room, the Town Council approved the Mayor’s proposal to establish July 21 as the “Municipal Day of Animal Sterilization and Welfare”, which will be part of the commemoration of the “World Dog Day”, celebrated internationally.

The Municipal President explained that this date, proposed by the Special Sustainability Commission, will contribute to raising awareness about the importance of sterilizing pets, as well as avoiding the overpopulation of dogs and cats that live in street conditions by increasing the availability and access to low-cost or free sterilization programs.
