Three Mérida crossroads appear among the most dangerous in the country, according to the report from the Open Data Misión Cero platform, which carries out spatial analysis of road risks in Mexico.

The cruise Avenida Jacinto Canek and Anillo Periférico appear in 56th place with 213 registered cases of road accidents. Then goes the Periférico crossing with Avenida Yucatán, which is in place 80 and added 185 cases. Finally, the intersection of 33 street and 31 Diagonal street, which is in place 87, totaled 175 traffic accidents.

According to the report, there are two dangerous crossroads in Mérida. However, these do not enter the national risk list, and they are the Anillo Periférico with Avenida García Lavín and Avenida Paseo de Montejo with Avenida Pérez Ponce.

The platform performed a georeferenced study to reach these results, in addition to consulting insurance companies.

Among the relevant data, it stands out that the number of deaths is high and mainly affects pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. The latter is even though the authorities have taken actions to combat this problem, among others, the publication of the General Law of Mobility and Road Safety.
