Alejandro Ruz Castro presented his municipal government report at a solemn session of the City Council held at the Olimpo Cultural Center. With a sense of fulfillment having fulfilled his duty to the people of Mérida, he delivered his final report as part of the current administration.

Before presenting his message, Mayor Ruz handed over the document detailing the activities carried out in the past year to Municipal Secretary Julio Enrique Sauma Castillo. The report was attended by a full house at the Olimpo Cultural Center, comprising guests from civil society, industry, government officials, ecclesiastical authorities, and consuls from countries such as France, Cuba, and the United States.

In his speech, Mayor Ruz emphasized that the Mérida City Council is a responsible and efficient entity. He highlighted that the city’s development is integral to its citizens’ dignity and requires collective efforts beyond urban infrastructure. This approach has contributed to Mérida becoming a beautiful city that attracts valuable people from various regions of Mexico and the world.

Mayor Ruz pointed out that the city’s landscape has changed significantly in recent years, with notable examples being the Gastronomic Corridor on 47th Street, new theaters such as the Nina Shestakova, and the Municipal Children’s and Youth Orchestra. He also mentioned the newly paved streets, more than 600,000 trees planted through reforestation campaigns, bike lanes, and improved transportation systems.

In addition, Mayor Ruz emphasized that his administration has invested over 310 million pesos in solidarity actions, such as constructing bathrooms, kitchens, and bedrooms in vulnerable areas of the city. He attributed the continuity of governments to the consistent direction and necessary transformations agreed upon with greater citizen participation, which has led to nationally and internationally recognized initiatives.

Before being greeted by those present, Mayor Ruz expressed that he and his team have a wealth of memories and experiences to share. “We will continue here, in our precious Mérida, contributing in whatever way we can.”
