A man was found dead in the weeds of the Mérida-Progreso highway median strip.
Municipal Police officers from the Progreso Municipality received a report of a bicycle lying on the side of the road and hit near the San Ignacio bridge.
When the officers arrived, they noticed that a few meters away, in the weeds, there was a lifeless man.
After the discovery, they cordoned off the area, while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office took charge of the corresponding proceedings.
It is presumed that the cyclist was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.
