A fire broke out in a house in the port of Progreso and left a three-month-old baby injured.
According to the report, the events occurred in a house located on 37th Street between 118 and 120 in Progreso’s Vicente Guerrero neighborhood.
Witnesses reported that they suddenly noticed a dense column of smoke and alerted the authorities.
State and municipal agents, as well as firefighters from the Public Security Secretariat, quickly arrived at the scene.
The fire occurred at around 3 p.m., causing the closure of streets for the work of the emergency services.
It was learned that an elderly woman, upon noticing the fire, immediately took out three children who were in the house, including a three-month-old baby who was in a crib and who suffered burns on her face and arms.
The minor was immediately transferred to a hospital to receive medical attention. So far, there has been no information on her health status.
According to reports, the cause of the fire was a short circuit in an air conditioner, which destroyed two rooms. However, another version states that a candle may have caused the fire when it fell on a bed.
