Sheinbaum said that she would give time for López Obrador and his family to be able to move out of the National Palace.

Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that she will live in the National Palace after she takes office as the first female president of the country on October 1, although she said that she will give time for the current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and his family to be able to move.

At a press conference at her transition house, the president-elect said that she still does not know if López Obrador and his family will continue to live in the National Palace on the night of September 30, when the Tabasco president’s six-year term ends, on October 1, which is the change of government, but she indicated that she will continue to live in the apartment she rents.

President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum revealed some of the reasons why she decided together with her husband Jesús María Tarriba that they will live in the National Palace after having thought about it for several weeks.

In front of journalists, Sheinbaum said that living in the National Palace allows her to have most of her time since she does not have to move to another place since it is in that building where she will work and where security meetings are held, which she will hold during her six-year term at 6:00 a.m. from Monday to Friday as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In addition, the next president of Mexico assured that she does not have her own house in which she can live, although she reiterated that the main reason for living in the National Palace is to make the most of her time.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that he is already preparing his move from the National Palace a few days before his government ends, so he is already packing his bags to leave the building and move to his villa in Palenque where he will dedicate himself to writing a book.
