“It seems that the Ministry of Tourism (Sefotur) has already abandoned work, no campaign was prepared for this weekend, despite it being the longest weekend due to the Grito ceremony,” lamented Juan José Martín Pacheco, leader of the Yucatan hoteliers.
“We hoped to have a good long weekend, from the 13th to the 16th. Unfortunately, there was no tourist promotion campaign for this time of year,” said Martín Pacheco.
“I regret that at the end of the current state administration, the secretary forgets that she is secretary until the last day. He should have developed a campaign with his people for a rich promotion during these national holidays,” he indicated.
With his experience as former Secretary of Tourism in the State, the hotel businessman commented that when you are an official, you must fulfill your responsibilities until the last minute of your administration. “You work until the end.”
“We are concerned that a tourist administration is closed today with an almost abandoned promotion, which left us without promotions, nothing for this good weekend that in some way was something good that we expected since the summer season was not what we expected. We hoped and thought that with this long weekend, we could do better,” lamented Martín Pacheco.
He pointed out that until yesterday, reservations in the city’s hotels did not even reach 28% occupancy for this weekend.
“It is sad to see that with the work we have done, shoulder to shoulder, and the drive that we have shown, this is left, abandoned in this way.”
“I insist, we hoped that in September, with the Grito ceremony on September 16, with this long weekend that we have, we could have a good attraction of visitors. Unfortunately, that will not be the case,” he stated.
In his opinion and from experience, he pointed out that there was a lack of promotion when they could have carried out a good campaign. He pointed out that they did not work on a promotional campaign due to the change of government, “but even within the transition, they could have closed well with the issue of regional tourism promotion, to have this sector covered, but it was not done.”
