Residents of the Polígono 108 subdivision raised their voices with great anger and indignation when denouncing animal cruelty exercised against at least two cats, one of which was found without a head.

In the Facebook group ‘Perros Extraviados Mérida’, a user published photos on social networks of the corpse of a feline pet without a head and the other one on one side, in the middle of a pool of blood, inside a private property, near the Poligono park.

A subject was identified as the alleged aggressor of the pets, however, it is unknown if it was a person who caused the horrendous evil or it could have been a dog.

According to the Penal Code of the State of Yucatán, whoever commits acts of mistreatment or cruelty against domestic animals, which cause their death, will be sentenced to 6 months to 2 years in prison and a two hundred to four hundred days-fine.
