Joaquin “Huacho” Diaz to be sworn in as governor in an “open-air” session in Merida

On September 30, the state Congress will meet outdoors, on 60th Street and 63rd Street, for the swearing-in of Joaquin Diaz Mena as the new constitutional governor of Yucatan.

It is expected that after the session, Huacho Diaz Mena will enter the Government Palace at noon.

In information he provided last Monday after the meeting at the Government Palace to install the government’s Transition Commission (which has already been reported), the elected state governor revealed that he is already working on preparing for his swearing-in, considering that the law states that his administration begins on October 1st.

Huacho Diaz Mena reported that they plan to hold the swearing-in “with the people, not in a theater or official venue, but outdoors, in front of everyone.”

It would not be the first time that the Solemn Session of Congress for the inauguration of a governor is not held in its official premises; Mauricio Vila Dosal did so in the “José Peón Contreras” theater.
