A dog that escaped from a property in Merida’s Chuburná Inn neighborhood attacked two women, one of whom was seriously injured.

According to witnesses, the dog left a home and first bit a young woman who was riding a motorcycle leaving a wound on her right foot.

Later, it reached the park in the same neighborhood where there were several people gathered, attacking a woman on the arm, causing her a significant wound.

Those who witnessed the event managed to scare the dog away and supported the injured woman with bandages, as an ambulance was also requested.

Minutes later, paramedics approached the injured woman to take her to a hospital, along with the other victim, who arrived on her own at the scene.

Neighbors say that this is not the first time that this dog has attacked someone, so they demanded that its owner be punished.

It is unknown whether the two women affected will file a complaint for the events that occurred this morning.

Article 29 of the Regulation for the Protection of Fauna in the municipality of Mérida states the following:

“The owners or possessors of animals that physically attack a person or another animal are obliged to provide the corresponding data of the aggressor animal.

In any case, the medical and material expenses are necessary, these will be covered by the owner of the animal, in addition to the corresponding sanctions for the aggression or illicit conduct.”
