The City Council of Mérida has plans to create a Municipal Drinking Water System, as stated by the mayor, Cecilia Patrón Laviada at the flag-raising ceremony in the Plaza Grande.

“It would be to address the problem of the communities surrounding Mérida. We have a great demand, people there ask us to address this situation,” she commented.

The major said that, at the moment, they are making a survey of the situation that those communities in Mérida are experiencing with water.

“It is an issue that already prevails, but new constructions have arrived and that has led to more demand for water, we are working on this and we are coordinating with the state government to find a solution to this.” The mayor made it clear that there are many challenges that her administration faces, but she emphasized that the issue of potholes is something they are currently facing. She stressed that the issue of leaks and the age of the streets have been an important factor.
