The reactivation of public transport was approved by local authorities.
In a session of the Emergency Committee of the State Council of Civil Protection, headed by the Governor of the State, Joaquín Díaz Mena, this afternoon the decision was made to reactivate all economic activities of the Entity, as well as the return to classes in a normal manner for tomorrow. Likewise, the gradual reactivation of public transportation was approved this afternoon, and the lifting of the Dry Law as of 5:00 p.m.
During the Session, the Governor of Yucatan recognized the participation of the Yucatecan society, as well as “its extraordinary culture of civil protection”, heeding the call of its authorities in the evacuation work, and thus helping to safeguard the integrity and health of all. He also stressed the importance of continuing to promote and strengthen the culture of Civil Protection in our society.
After a quick assessment of the damages, it was confirmed that Yucatan has a clean slate after Hurricane Milton, and it was reported that the town with the greatest damage, in the first assessment of the damages, is the municipality of Celestún, since there are inhabited areas that are still flooded.
Finally, before closing the permanent session of the State Council for Civil Protection, Díaz Mena reiterated his recognition of Yucatan society “for its extraordinary culture of civil protection,” to organized civil society, as well as the Armed Forces, the Navy and the Secretariat of Public Security.
