Dozens of families took advantage of an unusual event this Wednesday morning in the area of the breakwaters of the port of El Cuyo. Octopuses, snails, and fish appeared there.
Inhabitants of the port indicated that the arrival of species after the effects of a phenomenon such as Hurricane Milton is natural since the sea water is stirred and the sea species are dislocated and dragged to the shore.
As soon as they heard about this landfall, the families went to the place with their buckets to collect the product and they even did better than those who went into the water and found disoriented species that they were able to capture.
They assure that they are species that can be consumed with complete confidence since they are not contaminated. Only the strong waves brought them closer to the shore, so they do not represent a risk to the health of those who eat them.
Those who took it as fun were children who competed to find some of the specimens they were looking to save themselves. It was difficult because they usually survive in deep areas of the sea; unfortunately, the hurricane altered their habitat.
This phenomenon of the arrival of species from the sea lasted for a few hours since it is assumed that some strong wave expelled them to the shore without the possibility of returning from where they were removed. Fishermen also expect benefits in the coming days when they are allowed to return to their work, as octopus and scale species generally appear near the shore.
