Another case of animal cruelty in Merida; a man cuts a dog’s throat

On the afternoon of Friday, October 11, an attack by a man on a dog was reported in the community of San Pedro Chimay, Merida Municipality.

Witnesses to this atrocious event stated that a man, who is well-known in the area, cut the throat of a dog named “Toby” with a knife right in front of other people.

The animal, as best he could, fled the scene, reaching the door of his house to finally collapse and bleed to death on the sidewalk.

Agents from the Investigative Police, as well as the Forensic Veterinary Service, arrived at the scene to clarify the events and find Toby’s killer.

So far, local authorities have not reported the arrest of the suspect, although he has been identified by witnesses.
