Mexico offers help to Cuba after four days without electricity
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) of Mexico offered support to Cuba in the face of the energy emergency that it declared last Friday after being left without electricity nationwide.
Through the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Mexico offers “its technical support for the prompt restoration of electricity,” according to a post on X.
The Cuban electrical system has been collapsed for four days, although this Monday, almost 90 percent of Havana recovered electricity.
The Cuban blackouts of 2024 are a series of interruptions to the electricity supply throughout the country, which began in early 2024 and continue to affect the entire national territory. The blackouts are a consequence of the deterioration of the Cuban electrical system and the shortage of fuel.
The Cuban government blames the US trade embargo and sanctions intensified by the Joe Biden administration for the electricity crisis.
