Three teachers were traveling to Palizada; two died and one more was also reported injured.

The vehicle in which three teachers were traveling to Palizada, Campeche, overturned and ended up off the asphalt because a trailer got in the way after avoiding a mega pothole, which caused the death of two teachers and one more injured.

While in Calakmul and Hopelchén classes and work were suspended due to flooding caused by the passage of tropical storm Nadine, the rest of the municipalities had normal activities. However, the conditions of Highway 180, near the exit to the Candelaria Ojo de Agua, caused the heavy vehicle to abruptly maneuver to try to avoid various potholes, hitting the vehicle in which the teachers were traveling.

Three teachers were traveling in a Volkswagen Vento-type vehicle. Two of them died in the incident, while one was seriously injured by the impact of the vehicle. Nothing is known about the driver of the cargo truck. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether he fled the scene or not.

Members of the Red Cross arrived at the scene to treat the injured and confirm the death of the other two women, as well as members of the National Guard (GN), who were directing traffic and making sure that everyone was driving with caution to avoid another accident in the area.

This is one of the roads that must be intervened by the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), which until now has not had any positive change since the citizen reports of its poor conditions, even the government of Campeche has announced a millionaire investment in this regard in support of the lack of resources of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) that this 2024 did not have resources in the budget item for road maintenance, since all the resources were allocated to the Mayan Train Project, by order of ex-president Lopez Obrador.

The Mexican Alliance of Operators and Transporters (Amotac) considered the roads of Campeche as the worst in the country since serious and fatal accidents occurred during 2023 and 2024.
