However, the economic slowdown that was widespread in Mexico, the construction sector in Yucatán anticipated an economic growth of 3 percent at the end of this year, according to a note from “El Universal.”
In this regard, the president of the National Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) in Yucatán, Raúl Monforte González, stated that this important sector of the state’s economy will grow above the national average of 1 percent.
“Construction in Yucatán did better, even though in the last quarter there was a significant drop, since the sector continued to grow between 2 and 3 percent, although it was moderate growth,” Monforte González pointed out.
He reported that Yucatecan builders intervened in various state projects, such as civil works, school maintenance, and health center renovation in municipalities.
Monforte González highlighted that it was key for local construction companies to participate in the development of infrastructure for public transportation in Mérida, which allowed them to obtain income to maintain their workforce and face the difficult economic outlook of recent months.
