With the good news that the Fincantieri Italian company will install a shipyard in the port of Progreso by 2025, Yucatan will continue its expansion in terms of investments, through a better promotion of the state in companies from Spain and the United States focused on industries 4.0 and 5.0.
The Secretary of Economic Development and Labor (Sefoet), Ermilo Barrera Novelo, reported that the results of the trade mission to Italy, led by the head of the Executive Branch, will begin to bear fruit in the following months of 2025, with good results that will benefit many sectors.
He commented that a very solid investment has already been expressed that will be evaluated by Sefoet to promote this project. He added that the State Government and the Federation will have to evaluate the relevance since one of the agreements was the reception of what Yucatan has to offer to the company.
In addition to Fincatierri, the head of the Sefoet shared that they took advantage of this mission to talk with the Mexican ambassador in Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, to promote other sectors in that country, since both Spain and Italy are great commercial partners for the entity in the naval industry.
Barrera Novelo explained that Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena managed to form this work mission and anticipated that, surely, it would bring good news for the Yucatecans, as has happened with Italy and the Fincantieri company.
He reiterated that for next year, the United States will be a fundamental axis in attracting new investments, especially in all the states that are located in the Gulf of Mexico, such as Florida, Texas, and Mississippi, which represent 40 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of that country and are an attraction for the State.
