The fire of a house in this town caused a family tragedy, where Luis J. Cetina, 39 years old, died of smoke poisoning, while his father and sister were poisoned.

The events could have been more serious, but they were avoided thanks to the quick action of police from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), municipal, and neighbors.

It was found out that the fire originated in a Christmas tree, the causes of which are unknown, but one possibility is a short circuit in the lights.

Neighbors notified the authorities of the fire in a house. Agents of the SSP responded immediately, rescuing the owner and the deceased’s father.

The director of the Municipal Police, Cosme Damián Baltazar Novelo, also participated in the rescue, although he was intoxicated.

Firefighters controlled the fire, preventing damage to other houses. The area was cordoned off until agents from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived.

The neighbors’ collaboration and the authorities’ quick response managed to prevent the tragedy from becoming even greater.

The homeowner, Ana L. Cetina R., 41 years old, said that around 5 a.m., she heard the crackling of the fire and realized that flames consumed her Christmas tree.

The three affected people slept in the back room, and to get out, they had to cross the room, which was covered by fire at that moment.

Elements of the SSP joined the efforts of neighbors and municipal police, managing to rescue the owner and Jorge A. Cetina Ch., 77 years old.

However, Luis Cetina died intoxicated by the dense smoke, which he inhaled while he slept.
