The Ministry of Public Security (SSP) called on residents to ignore false messages that are spread on WhatsApp and other social networks about alleged robberies in shopping malls in Yucatán.

In a statement, he pointed out that the “injurious messages” refer to cases that occurred in other states, in past years, and their only objective is to cause fear in the population.

It also asks the population to notify the telephone number 911 if they detect any activity that may be considered illegal.

According to the SSP, these are texts and screenshots created and published in previous years in other states of the country, which are being replicated on WhatsApp chains and other platforms.

It is malicious information that in no case corresponds to events that occurred in Yucatán and, therefore, must be ignored to prevent it from causing confusion and concern among people.

The SSP reiterates that in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and the federal forces stationed in Yucatán, they work every day to prevent and prosecute crime. Also remember that, in the event of any suspicious or illegal activity, it is very important to report it to the emergency number 911 so that the corresponding help can be sent immediately.
