Mérida Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada announced an investment of 150 million pesos to improve the city’s road infrastructure, thanks to the savings achieved by the efficient management of public resources in this administration.

Accompanied by the director of Public Works, Sergio Chan Lugo, as well as neighbors of the Vergel II and III neighborhoods, the Mayor highlighted that thanks to this effort, 30 kilometers in 41 streets of 23 neighborhoods will be worked on, with a focus on repaving and improving roads in the south of the city.

She added that, from the first day of her administration, municipal work focused especially on seeking and promoting savings to allocate them to initiatives and actions that truly benefit the people of Mérida. Now it will be part of the Municipal Government Plan 2024-2027, which seeks to promote the orderly and sustainable growth of Mérida through the saving of public resources.

“We tightened our belts on travel expenses, cell phone lines that were canceled, as well as properties that we already returned so as not to pay more rent and we made the properties we have more efficient. We have also saved on gasoline, on payments to third parties in the case of consulting services and we have made many savings. I am very clear about the mandate of the people of Merida. I walk the streets, I listen to the people and that is how things are achieved,” she said.

Cecilia commented that 40 percent of the investment presented will be allocated to the improvement of roads in colonies in the south of Merida, while the rest will be distributed in colonies in the center, north, east and west of the municipality.
