The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the General Director of the Maya Train, General Oscar David Lozano Águila, signed a Collaboration Agreement to work together in the development of strategies, instruments, and actions that allow them to strengthen this infrastructure work.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted that the signing of this agreement is a historic watershed since it unifies the 2 floors of the Fourth Transformation; in the first, it was possible to create a large infrastructure of more than 1,500 kilometers of track and now, on the second floor, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, its consolidation as a tourist product.
She thanked the invitation and the willingness of the Secretariat that she heads to join this effort to strengthen the productive chain of the tourism sector, with emphasis on the resident communities, through the promotion of the Mayan Train.
In this sense, he pointed out the importance of the Mayan Train as a generator of shared prosperity and employment in the communities directly and indirectly benefited by this great tourist product, which also gives added value to Mexico and its people with world-class quality.
By highlighting that currently 8 out of 10 passengers are national, Rodríguez Zamora recognized the work carried out by the administration of the Mayan Train, since online ticket sales have doubled.
“The objective of this agreement is to strengthen promotion, training, and marketing points and socialize it from north to south. Our Mexico brand is present, we are a single consolidated country, where the sector feels united and involved,” he commented.
The General Director of the Mayan Train, General Oscar David Lozano Águila, praised this alliance between the Mayan Train and the Ministry of Tourism, with the signing of this agreement that is a great commitment and generates many areas of opportunity to collaborate and work in a coordinated manner.
