Armando Geded Lope, delegate of the Tourism Business Council, said the Valladolid Brand is one of the most important projects to promote this city as a tourist destination and attract a greater number of national and foreign visitors.

Geded Lope, who has been promoting his tourist hostel for several years, was recently appointed delegate of Cetur. Since then, he has begun proposing projects to increase overnight stays, not only in this city but in the entire region, for the benefit of all service providers in the industry.

He has already presented two projects, “One More Night in Valladolid” and “What to Do in Valladolid?” He is meeting with tourism sector business leaders to present his ideas and invite them to join these initiatives.

Geded recalled that, in the 2012-2015 municipal period, he proposed the “Oriente Maya” project, which, due to the time that has passed, is being adapted to the present.

The project enables various sites in the Eastern region, such as indigenous peoples, to promote them as tourist products.

It also seeks to promote visits to cenotes, archaeological zones, towns with traditions and customs, crafts, gastronomy, and other attractions in the region.

He pointed out that several years ago the Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo was promoted as a brand, which is now recognized worldwide.

In the same way, Valladolid can be positioned, he added, so that foreign tourists decide to arrive directly and not through the neighboring state, from where the majority of visitors come.

On Wednesday, January 15 at the Municipal Palace, the Tourism Directorate will present the Marca Valladolid project as a tourist destination. The City Council is getting involved in promoting the city as a brand and already has a plan to publicize its attractions and those of its surroundings.
