The Governor of Yucatan, Joaquin Diaz Mena, began his working tour in Madrid, Spain, accompanied by a delegation of Yucatecan businessmen and officials from his cabinet.

Before their departure, the Yucatecan delegation first met in Merida to plan the tour and on Sunday, January 19th, they held a meeting with the Mexican ambassador to Spain, Quirino Ordaz.

The Governor will be a special guest at the opening ceremony of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), where Yucatan will have a stand in the Mexican Pavilion, a space dedicated to promoting national tourist destinations.

One of the main objectives of the business mission is to present the Progreso Deepwater Port, one of the most ambitious infrastructure initiatives being developed in the state, to investors in the cities of Madrid and Valencia.

This project seeks to position Yucatan as a key logistics and commercial center in the region, promoting the development of sectors such as aerospace, agro-industry, logistics, and tourism.

The state’s industrial corridors and Yucatán’s export offering will also be promoted, to attract investments that diversify and strengthen the local economy.
