On Monday, January 20th, a woman lost her life after being hit by a public transport bus, when she was driving a scooter on the Mérida Periférico.

The fatal accident occurred a few meters from the base that the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) has under the bridge located at the exit to Valladolid.

The driver of the MU129 unit, route 36, of the “Va y Ven” system, explained to the police officers that he started the vehicle to leave the bus stop located on the side street in the inner body.

As he moved forward, he paid attention to the rearview mirrors so as not to hit any vehicle when entering traffic, but he lost sight of the traffic in front of the unit, so he did not notice when he hit a scooter driven by a woman of approximately 35 years of age, who was run over by the bus.

Upon realizing what had happened, the driver of the “Va y Ven” stopped the bus. The passengers immediately called the police for help and an ambulance arrived at the scene, and paramedics treated the woman, but they indicated that she had already died.

“She ended up under the truck, they had to move it to be able to treat her, but there was nothing they could do, she had already died,” said an SSP officer.
