A tremendous fire broke out in the early hours of this Sunday in a building on 29th Street between 20th and 22nd in Uman’s San Lorenzo neighborhood.

The fire was allegedly started by a candle that was left lit, which in a flash destroyed the workshop of the renowned Styrofoam master craftsman, José Eduardo Tello Dorantes, popular as “Don Tello.”

The flames quickly spread until they completely consumed several pieces of dry snow, papers, tables, and work tools.

Although neighbors in the area tried to extinguish the conflagration with hoses and buckets of water, it was in vain, since there was a lot of flammable material.

Several municipal police units arrived at the scene, and the elements together with neighbors set about rescuing several large pieces of dry snow to put them to safety.

Within a few minutes, a tanker and an attack vehicle from the SSP fire department arrived, and the firefighters quickly extinguished the fire that had already reached a great height.

“Don Tello” is dedicated to creating figures such as several of the dinosaurs made to scale that can be admired in the ecological park of this municipality.
